Fargo, ND

First Destination!  But first a correction from yesterday.  I referred to George III and Taylor as "newlyweds", when in reality they are "newly-graduated".  They make such a great couple that it was an easy mistake to make; however, we will have to wait for the big day.  Mea Culpa or, in the present-day lingo, My Bad.

Had an easy drive yesterday from Watertown to Fargo.  The first stop was in Millbrook, SD to visit the Valley Queen Cheese Factory.  We have made this stop several times.  While their visitor center doesn't compare to the Tillamook operation, it's a fun place to visit.  Made more so by the effervescent hostess on duty.  In our conversation, she told us about the big celebration coming up on July 19th; however, hers was a little different than ours.  Valley Queen is having a big to-do celebrating their founding brothers and the company's existence since 1929.  When she learned about our upcoming anniversary, she offered us a float in their parade on Saturday.  A little over the top, but it was fun exchanging information.  After a tasting session and some purchases, we were on our way again.

Took I-29 to Hankinson, SD where, miracle of all miracles, there we found Dakota Magic, a local Native American casino right on the border with North Dakota.  Judging from the license plates in the parking lot, it was a mecca for people from many states - North Dakota, Minnesota and South Dakota were the most prevalent, but there was a scattering of other states - easy to understand as they advertise heavily along the Interstate and it's a big building easily visible from highway.  While we didn't gamble, we did avail ourselves of their facilities, including the Twin Buffalo Grill.

As we were heading north, we gave Melanie a call and asked if we could stop by.  Graciously, she said it would be great.  Got off I-29 at Christine and drove up US 81 to their ranch/farm.  Greeted effusively in their garage by their black Lab (I think he opened one eye and decided we were no threat),

Great catching up with Melanie and Ken (who arrived a few minutes later).  Always good to see them and exchange latest happenings.  Their place is awesome out in the country, as are they.  Fun, but short visit and then we were on our way to Michelle and Adrian's place in West Fargo.  Michele and Colin were home to greet us. Unloaded our car (I think Zelda breathed a sigh of relief).  Got settled in and just enjoyed again catching up.  They have done such a great job of remodeling their beautiful home.  Adrian arrived a little later, so more conversation.

In the evening, we went to Maxwell's for dinner and more catching up. Again, lots of fun talking, exchanging memories and just generally having a great evening.  Good wine, good food and good (no, make that great), conversation made the evening fly by.

Not sure what our plans are for the next few days, but we are looking forward to seeing everyone and having a great (think I'm overusing that word) visit.
